Malimba-Music
Is Hope Makinto This is soundtrack from Makinto's one-man-musical, "Malimba-Music Is Hope." In this 50 minute show, which he's been performing in the New York area, Makinto guides the audience through the evolution of music, performing on a variety of instruments, and touching on the roots of traditional African music, gradually developing through Samba, Reggae, Calypso, Spiritual, Blues, Gospel and Rap, and his own African Soul Music. He once again pays hommage to the musical influences that have helped cultivate his multi-talented, multi-cultural musical spirit. More Info on MAKINTO |

With performance elements ranging from a true American Pop style duet/ballad, to the lovely and haunting, Creole influenced, vocalised Nami's Song, the slow bluesy rock groove of Star Of A Million Eyes, the classy jazz touches of How Can You live Without Love, or the electro-Motown-ish Rite Emotion, Snyder's Market, just like Grandpa Snyder did, keeps on delivering a something-for-everyone appeal. The music never gets in your way, with excellent musicianship and the variety of vocal performances allowing it to play like a customized radio show, wherever you feel at home. As producer, Tommy always allows the players to "make the music theirs." A fine drummer himself, he didn't hesitate to ask a friend to play drums on two songs, so he could record live vocals with the band. But that's normal when you take into consideration the vast wealth of experience Tommy's gained in his multi-faceted career. (see "TOMMY") |
